Safety Statement for Leather Craft Workshops

Introduction:
At Turas Leather, the safety and well-being of all participants and staff in our leather craft workshops are our top priority. This safety statement outlines our commitment to providing a safe environment and minimizing risks associated with working with leather crafting tools and materials. We adhere to best practices and regulations to ensure that each participant can enjoy a secure and creative learning experience.

1. Workshop Environment:

  • Workstations will be kept clean, clutter-free, and organized to prevent accidents. All tools and materials will be stored safely and securely when not in use.
  • The workshop space will be well-lit to allow for safe and precise crafting. Proper ventilation will be maintained to avoid exposure to fumes from dyes, adhesives, and other materials.
  • Clearly marked emergency exits will be accessible at all times. A fire extinguisher will be available in the workshop, and staff will be trained on how to use it.

2. Tools and Equipment Safety:

  • Participants will receive training and demonstrations on the proper use of tools..
  • Participants are encouraged to wear closed-toe shoes to protect their feet from falling tools or materials.
  • All tools will be inspected regularly for damage or wear and replaced as necessary. Sharp tools will be stored safely, with blade covers or in designated holders to prevent accidental injuries.

3. Hazardous Materials Management:

  • Leather dyes, adhesives, and other chemicals will be used in a well-ventilated area to prevent inhalation of fumes. Participants will be instructed on the proper handling, application, and disposal of these materials.
  • In case of contact with skin or eyes, participants will have access to a first aid kit and an eyewash station. Clear instructions for handling exposure incidents will be posted, and staff will be trained in basic first aid.

4. First Aid and Emergency Procedures:

  • A fully stocked first aid kit will be readily available in the workshop. At least one staff member trained in first aid will be present during each workshop session.
  • All incidents, no matter how minor, must be reported to the workshop coordinator immediately. An incident report form will be filled out for each occurrence to monitor and improve safety procedures.
  • Emergency contact numbers for local medical services, fire department, and police will be displayed prominently. Participants will be asked to provide emergency contact details at the beginning of each session.

5. Participant Responsibilities:

  • Participants must follow all instructions and guidelines provided by the workshop coordinator. Any misuse of tools or materials will result in immediate cessation of participation for safety reasons.
  • Participants are encouraged to report any hazards or unsafe conditions they observe to the workshop coordinator immediately.
  • Participants are expected to maintain a respectful and attentive attitude during safety demonstrations and training sessions. Disruptive behavior that could endanger oneself or others will not be tolerated.

6. Risk Assessment and Review:

  • A safety audit of the workshop space, tools, and equipment will be conducted before each workshop session. Risks identified during these audits will be addressed promptly to ensure continued safety.
  • This safety statement will be reviewed and updated annually or when new equipment, materials, or procedures are introduced.
  • Participants are encouraged to provide feedback on safety measures to help improve the workshop experience.
